Four Nazarene schools named to Colleges of Distinction list
Wednesday, July 25, 2012
Nampa, Idaho
Four Nazarene schools were featured on CollegesofDistinction.com, a website dedicated to honoring schools for their excellence in student-focused higher education. Nazarene schools on the website included Northwest Nazarene University, Eastern Nazarene College, Mount Vernon Nazarene University, and Trevecca Nazarene University.
“At Northwest Nazarene University, we focus on the whole person — heart, soul, mind, and strength,” said NNU President David Alexander. “We strive to be a transformative learning community, educating for the life God intends.”
Colleges and universities are nominated for participation in Colleges of Distinction through high school counselors’ recommendations and quantitative research. Once nominated, the colleges are assessed using four distinctions: student engagement, quality of teaching, vibrancy of the college community, and success of graduates. Schools featured on CollegesofDistinction.com must meet minimum standards in each category.
The Nazarene schools were found to excel in all four distinctions and each will receive a personal profile on the Colleges of Distinction website.
“Schools designated as 'Colleges of Distinction' create well-rounded graduates and are among the very best in the country,” said Tyson Schritter, executive editor of Colleges of Distinction.
CollegesofDistinction.com offers dynamic college profiles and easy-to-use search tools for students, parents and counselors. The website includes tips from high school guidance counselors as well as essays from college students, presidents, and other members of campus communities.
